Redhat 9 printer issues with CUPS and GIMP-PRINT
I just installed CUPS version 1.1.17-13.3.0.3 and successfully built gimp-print version 4.2.7-pre1 with the --with-cups options loaded. I've successfully created a new printer using CUPS and added the correct driver to my printer (Lexmark Z53). Everything seems to look fine on the CUPS admin web page, but when I hit 'Print Test Page', the job says that its completed correctly but there isn't a page that prints out. So I turned on debugging for cupsd and found this:

Welcome to LQ. I'll admit I don't know the answer to your question, but if it's a Lexmark, and you happen to be using a non-Lexmark ink cartridge, I would not be at all surprised if it is related to this lawsuit If so, the solution would seem to be that you'd need to use Lexmark ink cartridges. As I said though, that is mostly speculation, but even if it's a dead end, it would be a factor that you could eliminate from consideration.
I'd be interested in seeing any updates you might have to this post. -- J.W. |
Issue resolved. Just upgraded to Fedora Core 2 with the new CUPS package and it worked beautifully. Only thing now is besides root, I can't get any other users to print.
