I am about to purchase an Asus A7V600 that uses the VIA VT8237 Southbridge which includes SATA 150. I am just wondering if this chipset is supported by Redhat 9. Also I am interested on when it was or will be added to the kernel. I want to buy an SATA HD, but if it is not supported yet I will just get the PATA 133 HD.
I have just purchased the A7V600 with 2 120GB Seagate sATA Harddrives. I would really like to go with RedHat 9 but like you said, if it's not supported I might try something else. Let me know if you find out anything.
I know this is a little off topic but I as well have an A7V600, and I was wondering if your sound is choppy? It seems that my audio's fine except when I get into quake3 it chops, skips, and pauses. I downloaded the latest via drivers and installed them and I still get the same problem.
Hey Everyone, my quest for installing RedHat on my new server may be over. Of all places (dummy), I found the driver update on the VIA website. I will be trying it out this weekend and will keep you posted on my progress.
So far, i have had no luck getting this chipset drivers incorporated into the RedHat 9 Setup. I found a post on Via's website with the same conclusion, if anyone has any idea's please let me know.
