RedHat 7.3 laptop freezes when in suspended or standby mode

Hi,

On a DELL SmartPC 250N laptop with Redhat 7.3, after the laptop has entered the suspended or standby mode, it becomes impossible to use it again : it looks as if it is frozen.

This occurs when I let it go in suspended or standby mode from a KDE session. The problem does not occur when there is no open KDE session, but the laptop won't enter the suspended or standby mode.

I tried to use acpid instead of apm, but with no apparent change.

I read a few manpages and found that hdparm might be responsible for this problem. Unfortunately, the configuration file warns against any modification in the file. Since I want to keep my hard disk, I did not dare modify it.

Has anyone already had and solved this kind problem ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Loïc
