recommended usb bluetooth dongles for linux

Hi Guys, I have just bought a single board computer that has linux running on it and am trying to get bluetooth communications going between the SBC and my PC. The board can be found here

http://www.glomationinc.com/product_9260.html

I was hoping i could buy two usb dongles, one to bluetooth enable my pc and the other to plug into the usb port on the SBC to setup 2 way comms. However I get the impression this sounds far simpler to implement than it will be in practice.

Could anyone offer some suggestions to dongles that are linux compatible and how to go about implementing them into my project?

While there are a lot of dongles out there, most of them are based around the same few chipsets, meaning that chances are whatever dongle you buy will be supported. If you're really worried that you might get a dud, then take down the model numbers of a few that interest you and search the web directly for whether anyone has reported support/non-support status for them.

But I don't know much about how bluetooth networking works, so I can't help you there.

That board has ethernet. Why not use that instead of (slow) BT?
That said, I every BT dongle I have plugged into a modern linux distro (Eg buntu 8.04) has "just worked" .
This one is:
Code:
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

Hi, yes I'm aware this has ethernet and have been able to use this, but the project I am using the board on means that it needs wireless comms. Your comment about them "always working" is reassuring though, I will look for a suitable module and see if anyone on the web has had any problems with it. Thanks

I'd think that wifi is more suitable when it comes to general access networking, however. It has much better bandwidth for one thing. Bluetooth is more for providing simple, direct access to peripheral devices like printers and mobile phones.
