Recommend a SATA controller?

Can anyone recommend a PCI SATA controller that is supported under linux? I checked the HCL but there is only SCSI and ATA* cards in there.

If there is no good PCI card then how about a mid-range priced (100-150bucks) P4 motherboard??

Thanks
Trey

Supposedly sata doesnt work under linux, or so Ive read. All I can say is mandrake 9.2 and 10.0 do load the drivers for my 4 port promise sata controller. On install, and reg bootup, but they dont function on 10.0. The card is recognized, but it will not pick up any drives period. So... Thats all I can say. The promise chipset should work.

You can try Highpoint RocketRAID 1520 or 1540. Both of those cards have open source code so you can compile with your kernel version. I do not know if the source code will compile ok with the kernel version 2.6. You may want to send an e-mail or call Highpoint about it.
