go to the top link click on "HD Audio Codec Driver" accept the license agreement (after reading) click on "Unix (Linux)" click on GO next to "Linux driver (2.6)" wait for the download. Install. other than that try: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=realtek+alc883+ubuntu&l=1 especially: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...07#post5240869 |
I got a bit stuck up at the compilation ...Meanwhile I thought would post the output of a few commands if that might be of any help

Ok...I just want to ditch this piece of sound card....I just read there are speakers available from vendors like creative /logitech which also has a built in sound card independent of the computer's sound card..Can I try one of these ? Are these too expensive??

I'm suprised that you havent just tried doing what TBABill said you should try when you asked the same question on the ubuntu forum-
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...Realtek+ALC883 "NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG" makes me think that you could probably even get away with just running alsa-conf. I'm not aware of any creative/logitech speaker sets with 'built in' sound cards. If they exist, it would be via an external USB sound card, and I wouldnt trust creative to have any decent out-of-the-box support for a USB sound card. Or any linux drivers at all for that matter.... Buying an external sound card, with or without speakers, might just be buying more trouble. |
I have tried TA Bills suggestion , it is not working ...I will be trying out runing the ALSA Script suggested by lidex..will let you know..
