Raid controller question.

Hey,

I want to add two more Hdd to my linux server but im confused.

Current hdd setup is :

2 x 1TB hdd in raid 1 for the OS
2 x 2TB hhd sata internal.

I have no space left internally for any more hdd but I have space in my raid controller in the front of my pc case for 2 more Hdd. Is there anyway I can add them without having to put them in a raid? I just want them as two separate hdd. It says on the front of the server that it supports hot swap if that makes any difference.

I suggest you try, as most controllers will see both disks as single disks when no RAID is configured.
Hot-swap just means that you can pull a drive (then insert a new one) while the computer is running (no need to reboot to replace a disk).

Note that you can't "hot swap" a non-RAIDed disk without causing data loss. One of the purposes of RAID is to build resilience into your server so a failed disk can have the data it holds re-constructed from the remaining disks in the raid if it's set for multiple disks. RAID3, 4, 5, 6, etc or use the mirror if RAID1 (two disks, same data on both)
If you don't configure the RAID card to include the two external disks as RAID1, they'll just be seen as two non-hotswap disks
