Hello,
I'm just setting up a server, and want RAID. The motherboard did not have built in RAID, so I got a PCI Raid Card (2 x SATA) and put it in. All I know about this card is that it uses the Adaptec chipset.
I set out to install Debian, but it would lock up at about 93% - Loading SCSI drivers or somesuch. A quick google revealed that this was a common issue with SATA chipsets, so I pulled out the PCI RAID card and the installation worked. The only way to make this to work would be to install debian on a IDE HDD and then install the drivers, then move the installation over to the redundant (RAID1) array.
My question is:
How do I go about this? Will I be able to just ghost the image from the IDE HDD to the RAID array using Norton Ghost or similar?
Also, once the drivers for the RAID card are installed, how do I prepare the disks (i.e. format) them for use?
Any Help Appreciated
