Radeon X800Pro on Mandriva 2007 PP, A problem with ATI drivers...
O.K., I know that this or similar issue's have been discussed all over the net, but after reading so many posts on so many forums, that I simply couldn't event count, I still haven't found the right answer that solves my problem. No one could help me, although I post description of following issue on few different polish forums Now it's time for an English one
First of all I have Mandriva 2007 Power Pack installed on my computer, which most critical components are:
1. mainboard - ASUS A7V600-X
2. processor - AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (32bit)
3. graphics card - Sapphire Radeon X800Pro 256 MB GDDR3 AGP 8x
And now to the point. I cannot make 3D acceleration to work. When I'm trying to install the latest ATI drivers (using ".run" package), which are 8.32.5 for the moment, I got a strange error:
Code:
Creating directory fglrx-install
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing ATI Proprietary Linux Driver-8.32.5....................................................................................

cp: cannot execute stat on `x710/usr/X11R6/bin/*': There isn't any such file or catalog
find: install/usr/bin/fireglcontrolpanel: There isn't any such file or catalog
I know from ATI's website, that this version of drivers requires X.Org 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1, and to my knowledge Mandriva 2007 PP has 7.1.
Code:
[root@localhost ATI]# Xorg -version
X Window System Version 7.1.1

X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.1.1

Any suggestions how to resolve my problem? Thx in advance

I totally forgot to mention, that all the results posted above came from my Mandriva after I've finally managed to install ATI ver. 8.32.5 drivers, by generating Mandriva 2007 specific packages. Those packages were
1. ati-8.32.5-1mdv2007.0.i586.rpm
2. atieventsd-8.32.5-1mdv2007.0.i586.rpm
3. dkms-ati-8.32.5-1mdv2007.0.i586.rpm
And below is how I've generate those packages.
Code:
[root@localhost ATI]# sh ./ati-driver-installer-8.32.5-x86.x86_64.run --listpkg
Creating directory fglrx-install
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

Even the installation process seemed to finish without any error, I still don't have direct rendering
Code:
[root@localhost ATI]# glxinfo | grep direct
