Radeon driver no longer works after Fedora upgrade

I upgraded my FC4 machine to Fedora 7 and the radeon driver no longer works. I can run X with the vesa driver, but it maxes out at 1280x960, and I want my 1680x1050 widescreen back.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log ends with
(II) LoadModule: "radeon"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module radeon
(II) UnloadModule: "radeon"
(EE) Failed to load module "radeon" (module does not exist, 0)
(II) LoadModule: "mouse"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//mouse_drv.so
(II) Module mouse: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 7.2.0, module version = 1.1.1
Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 0.6
(II) LoadModule: "kbd"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input//kbd_drv.so
(II) Module kbd: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 7.2.0, module version = 1.1.0
Module class: X.Org XInput Driver
ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 0.6
(EE) No drivers available.

Fatal server error:

It doesn't seem like the driver has gone anywhere, but it doesn't want to load.

# find / -name radeon.h
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.22.9-91.fc7-i686/include/video/radeon.h
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.22.9-91.fc7-i686/include/config/drm/radeon.h
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.22.9-91.fc7-i686/include/config/fb/radeon.h
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.21-1.3194.fc7-i686/include/video/radeon.h
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.21-1.3194.fc7-i686/include/config/drm/radeon.h
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.21-1.3194.fc7-i686/include/config/fb/radeon.h

------------

I've tried installing the ati proprietary fglrx driver. The one on livna dosen't work, and I've found information online suggesting that I need to use a previous version with my card. I downloaded the driver off the amd/ati website listed for my card, but I got stuck in dependency hell revolving around libexpat.so.1 -- this seems like a dead end, but maybe someone has an insight in to that instead. I'd be with either the radeon or the fglrx driver, just so long as I can get one of them working

Brilliant ideas are encouraged

Use the ati-x11-drv rpm package from freshrpms, install the freshrpms-release package;

rpm -i http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp....fc.noarch.rpm

http://moonshine.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=83

yum install ati-x11-drv
http://moonshine.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=477

If you need an older driver then use the one for Fedora Core 6 instead;

http://zod.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=1184
