Radeon 9700 pro drivers for Mandrake 9.1?

Apart from a bit of mucking around with an old version 6.something (I think) of redhat a few years back, I am a complete newbie to linux.

I have Mandrake 9.1, and I'm trying to track down some drivers that'll work with my 9700 Pro.

All the drivers I've seen have been incompatible with glibc 2.3.

I hope the answer does not contain the word 'compile' because methinks that'll be over my head...
