Radeon 9600 le-(xandros debian) Dual Head (Clone only...)

I have tried unsuccessfully for some time to get dual-head
to work...
tried hacking XF86Config-4 with every possible combination

I am **very** new to debian
(disappointed recently with RH8 and 9...)
I've downloaded and carefully worked through
xinerama HOW-TO with no luck so far

PCI scan shows two pci devices 1:00.0 and 1.00.1

system: xandros debian 2.4.22-xl
on a Athlon 1.8MHz machine with via chipset mo board Soltek KT400
with 1gig RAM
and Radeon 9600 le (dual head) graphics card (128mb)

Sorry but this dual-head hardware works fine with Windows...
Any help - hints - suggestions most welcome
