QUIKE! Trading 9600 radon for GeForce FX 5500! GOOD DEAL!!!!????

Im trading in my radeon ATI 9600 radon non pro 128 megs, for a GeForce 5500. (something, oc i believe ill bring in more info later) Would this a good deal? Im sick of trying to get my radeon to work on my Mandrake system, and i want to be able to play Doom3. And I said to the guy i was trading (i know him very well) that I was going to research this and ask ppl about it before I do it. Someone give me some advice.. and not being pushy, but I want some opinions before I go further into this deal. How good would u say the 5500 is??? Is it worth it? Give me ur reasons. Thanx in advanced!

i say either card wouldn't be able to handle doom3 very easy.
you might try. but i heard doom 3 was very detailed and one of my friend has a geforce 5200. he told me doom bared runs on it.
the only thing i would suggest was to sell it on ebay or trade it then sell the geforce on ebay. then get a better one.

I know I'd make that trade in a second if I were you since the nVidia Linux drivers beat the crap out of ATI's drivers. They're only available as rpms! Now what the f*ck is with that?! (I just used alien to convert them to debs but it's still lame as hell.)

Neither card is going to handle DOOM3 well.

I would look into getting a new card all together.

These people here would shoot me, but how do you define "very well." People told me that my old Nvidea extreme-low end geforce 4 mx 400 wouldn't run Unreal II. It ran very well
Not to mention the cranked up system behind it, but you get the picture. I also got a Radeon 9600 dirt cheap, and it ran Doom 3, just don't expect to get movie-like graphics. Still, I'd go for the 5500 Nvidea.

I even remember that my old 16 MB 3d card ran Jedi Knight 2 plenty well.

But if you have money pouring out of your bank, by all means, but a new $300 card and you'll be pumpin graphics in no time.

Great thanx guys, going to trade today. Just needed more opinions, cuz well, a 5500 is not as good as a 9600. (but not by that big of a difference)
