Questions about some old hardware (not really Linux related)
Hello, like the subject says, these questions aren't Linux related. However, I know at least a few people here know enough to tell me the answers.
I threw together a "new" computer from some really old parts. What I don't understand is this motherboard. There are 3 PCI slots off to the right, opposite of where the slots on a newer board would be. One says "Master", the next "Master/Slave", and the third "Master/Slave" again. Master what? I didn't know there were master and slave PCI devices. Or does it mean that a controller is supposed to be connected there, and the master drive gets connected to the first? And if so, can I connect other PCI devices such as an ethernet card and use them? If I did that, the cable would have to ENTER the computer since the slots are off to the right...
I also have a Winbond ISA controller. Can I connect both the hard drive and the floppy drive to this controller, or do I need a separate controller for each one?
Any information about this hardware would be greatly appreciated. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm not accustomed to older hardware. Thanks in advance.
