Question since no answer to my C-Media
 

Ok if I have XMMS open and I am playing MP3's and i have Gaim and Ymessenger also open with sounds enabled. The sounds do not come through while an MP3 is playing. they stack then flow through the channel once the MP3 stops. If I am correct..

Will Multi Channel Drivers fix this?? C-Media 8738 Onboard sound. Currently have cmpci driver or module but cant get the new cmipci to work as explained in my other post.

Only one application can play sounds at any given time.
You can solve this by running a sound server - a sort of software mixer - that will take control over the sound card and play sounds that are sent to the server. eSound is a good sound server in my opinion. You will have to set up your applications to use this instead of playing the sounds directly.
