I just tried both the generic mmc drivers with the same result: Does not write DVD's.

Out of interest, do you have growisofs installed. Thats what generally I use to burn DVDs, never tried the modified cdrecord for that. If you have it installed then k3b will pick up on it and hopefully try to use it.

Seconded :).

Yes, I have growisofs. Here is a list of what I have:

cdrdao 1.2.0
cdrecord 2.1
dvd+rw-format 7.0
eMovix 0.9.0
growisofs 7.0
mkisofs 2.1
normalize 0.7.7
readcd 2.1
sox 12.17.7
transcode 1.0.2
vcdxbuild 0.7.23
vcdxminfo 0.7.23
vcdxrip 0.7.23

Apparently k3b does not try to use it or maybe something is defective somewhere. I don't know how to find that out.

Update:
I just tried a friend's usb DVD recorder (an HP 1040d) with K3b and it worked! I was able to write a few DVD's! I'm very happy about that.

K3B was not able to write one after the other though. I had to keep closing it down and restarting it. I also unplugged the DVD writer and replugged it before restarting K3b and then it would write another DVD. I'm just glad that it worked. :D

Hmm. I have a DVD drive now and had problems with CDs. Then I started YAST and there the hardware recognition module and activated the new drive. After that it worked (sort of :rolleyes: ). I'll upgrade to 10.3 shortly and we'll see then...

What sort of problems with the CD's?

Keep me posted, ok?

It said something about an error after burning, I forgot what exactly, deeming it unnecessary since I planned to Install SuSE 10.3...

I copied a DVD+R in SuSE 10.3 successfully (the SuSE 10.3 DVD). I do have issues though. First, burning was real slow, starting with about 16x and slowing to an average about 6x. The device buffer was jumping between nearly empty and full.

I'm not sure what that is. "During a shutdown -F -r now" I noticed several "DriveReady SeekComplete", "DriveStatusError BadCRC" and "dma_intr:" errors "ide0: reset successful" for hdc, master of hdd on the same bus. I searched this site to no true avail but those to might be connected.

And now to your question ;). K3b 1.0.2 (?) uses on my box
Code:

cdrdao 1.2.2
wodim 1.1.6 -> cdrecord
dvd+rw-format 7.0
growisofs 7.0
genisofmage 1.1.6 -> mkisofs
readom 1.1.6 -> readcd

Whether readom 1.1.6 is a link to readcd is not quite clear, readcd might be a further program. Can't decipher my own notes :(.

<edit> It is a link. </edit>
