Question about SATA II

Hi!

I'm still sort of confused when it comes to SATA and SATA II harddisks. Does SATA II use a different port than SATA?

When mobo specifies that is supports SATA 3 Gb/s is that the same as saying that it supports SATA II?

Thanks

SATAII is really the incorrect term (everybody uses it). What is generally meant is SATA 3Gb/s. SATAI and II use the same port. The bad part about SATA1 and II is that there are currently no HDs that can physically outrun SATAI.

Oh, OK, thanks. The only SATA II harddisk I'm buying is the one for storage - so I guess it does not matter that much. The HDD I chose for OS is SATA I / 10k rpm - as long as this one is quick, I'm happy.

But thanks for the answer
