PS2 or USB Keyboard will not work on Boot Up
 

I was using a PS2 keyboard which worked fine in SUSE 10.1. I have a USB board that I wanted to use. Searched and saw where somebody advised to enable USB legacy support in the BIOS. I enabled the support and then found out my keyboard would not work on boot up. The same thing happened with the USB board. I am dual booting and cannot get back into the BIOSA or select anything on GRUB until after boot up. Both keyboard work fine after SUSE boots, nothing until then. Help !!

Use the ps2 keyboard when booting up, and keep pressing whatever gets you to the bios. (delete or F2 or whatever it is.) If that doesn't work you'll need to clear the bios to factory defaults. You can do that with a jumper on the motherboard if you have the motherboard docs handy to figure out which jumper clears the bios. (Usually it's the jumper closest to the motherboard battery, but not always.) The easiest way is to unplug the computer and remove the motherboard battery for a few minutes, then put it back in, then plug in the computer, and reboot with the ps2 keyboard in. Make sure you don't fry your motherboard with static electricity. Before you unplug the computer from the wall, touch your power supply, with the computer turned off, then unplug from the wall, that should clear any static charge.

Sorry about the late reply as I had my box all apart swapping parts with another box i had. I did remove the battery on Sunday the 26th for about an hour. It did clear the BIOS and I was able to disable USB legacy support. In the mean time I went ahead and loaded Suse 10.2 RC1, still working my way through so far all is well. Thanks for the reply
