PS/2 Mouse driver problems

I have a ps/2 mouse that I am using on one of my boxes that I just reintalled. During instalation on Mandrake 10.1 Community, in the summary section, it asks you what type of mouse you have. I answered generic ps/2, usb mouse. The installation then asks me to test the mouse, it works fine, not to mention that the installation has mouse support right off the bat. When I finish the installation, and boot into the os, there is a mouse, but it is not moving, ie there is no mouse support. I have reinstalled the os twice now with different drivers to see if I could fix this, but to no avail. Is there any way that this can be fixed without reintalling the os.

ps: in xorg.conf, the driver for my mouse is just simply "mouse"

Can you post the full Mouse section from xorg.conf? Having that information would be helpful -- J.W.

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "Generic PS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"

As su or root, type modprobe psmouse. The 2.6.x kernel does not detect PS/2 mouse. You have to load this module by yourself.

If that does not work change /dev/mouse to /dev/psaux in the xorg.conf file.
