Have been trying for quite some time to get a promise Sx8300 to work with debian etch. The problem is that the partial source provived by Promise ain't all that well documented.
It seems like the source only supports up to kernel 2.6.10 (indicated by some code in the source). And the promise support, probably the worst support in the whole world, says that they have no plans on supporting kernel 2.6 (the support obviously have no insight in that they already do support 2.6...).
Anyways, if anyone have manage to build these drivers for a newer kernel or have some advice, pleace write me a line or two.

I have tried with building the driver into the kernel and just building the module. No luck with either approach.

I have a similar problem with a 4300. I balk at loading Windows just to get the hardware to work.

Hey. Nopes. that card broke down and was replaced with a highpoint card. =)

I'll try DMraid but I don't think it's a suitable card. That being the case I'll just give up and sell it while its worth something.
