I have a Samsung SC-D353 video camera and would like to get it working on my Umbutu 9.10 operating system so I can edit videos using Audacity. When I plug the camera into the USB port (in either playback or redord mode) it shows "Streaming USB" on the cameras screen, however I do not have anything come up on the desktop. I looked at /media and do not see a directory added.
Upon searching the web "linux samsung sc-d353" I find a lot of Windows drivers but nothing that has helped with Umbutu.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, with regular video cameras the best way to do this is to stream via firewire NOT via USB (not only because the quality is worse, but also because Linux does NOT support it, again AFAIK). I see that this camera does have a firewire (IEEE1394) port, so use that plus dvgrab or kino to get your dv stream.
