Problems with QUALCOMM Atheros ethernet ar8171/8175

I have a QUALCOMM ATHEROS ethernet NIC (qualcomm atheros ethernet ar8171/8175), which is unfortunatly not compatible with ANY LINUX distros. I just bought this computer. I wish I would have known about the compatibility issue.

Will ndiswrapper work for you?

When I'm looking in a bricks and mortar computer store, I take bootable flash drives with me with live versions of a couple of current Linux distros, just to ensure that they'll boot and that wireless will work. I never think to check out the NIC.

I actually work from home. My job gave me VMWare boot disk that I use to connect to my work. It is based on SUSE Linux VMWare CD. All I do is put in the CD in my computer and I connect to my work network remotely. It works on my others computers which have REALTEK Ethernet NIC. But this new computer has QUALCOMM Ethernet NIC which is not compatible with LINUX.

I don't know how would I use NDISwrapper? Do you install that on my windows installation.
