Problems with monitor resolution

I recently installed Red Hat 9.0 and it seems to have a problem with recognizing the resolution of my monitor (Dell 1703 FP). My icons are absolutely huge and I can't figure out how to fix it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

when you do your configuration for X you told it that its refresh rates were 31.5 - 35 .0
and 50-70

reconfigure your XWindow to use a resolution of 800x600 or 1024x768 and a default dpth of 16 BPP. if 16BPP screws things up switch it back down to 8BPP.
