Problems syncing with Palm V

I installed my Palm V on Red Hat 9 and I was able to hotsync - the first time. It seems like every time I load my computer I can sync once before I get a message saying the hotsync failed because it couldn't connect to my computer.

I have a serial Palm V.

I ran the command ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/pilot

chmod a+rw /dev/ttyS0

Any ideas?

Very strange behavior. Sometimes it works fine. Other times I get connection problems. Doesn't seem to have a consistent pattern to it.

Did you have any luck? I'm running RH9 and want to sync my Palm V, but I've only just started looking for the instructions on how to sync in Linux.

Would appreciate hearing if you figured this out.
