If 'ATA' has it's normal meaning it is 'Advanced Technology Attachment' which relates to the latest IDE standard for connecting hard disks. I wouldn't go disabling that one.

You do have on-board sound; the Via 8233 is their way of including AC 97 sound on the board. Look in the BIOS for 'AC 97 sound'.
