Problems installing linux distros w/ x800

I just recently bought an x800 xt and I'm having problems installing linux distros and configuring the video. In mandrake, the test button comes back and says it can't find any video devides. VLOS does the same thing when trying to start the installer.

I know this is most likely completely unfixable, but is there anything at all i can do?

Perhaps try to force using a 9800 driver instead? or perhaps download ati drivers from their site to try to use their drivers?
