Question problem writing dvds get ab error Illegal write mode for this drive


Hay

I can write cd no problems but when it comes to DVD ????

I am using Redhat AS3 update 7 and using HP 8x slim DVD+RW Driver on DL 580 server.

I made a iso image using

mkisofs -o backup.iso -J -R -A -V -v ./123

And tried to write the cd using

cdrecord -v -eject speed=2 dev=4,0,0 backup.iso

And the out put is as follows

Try adding a -dao (check man cdrecord) to your cdrecord line. Other destros (fc4-5) often have problems with burning dvd and having automount turned on. You will have to find a write mode that the drive supports (hopefully dao).

If you have the space k3b works very well at burning stuff(generally considered to be the best burning software). It will work with gnome or kde.
