Problem with newer mother board

Hi,
I built my own PC the other day. I am using Asus P4P800 mother board, but the problem is that when I installed windows into it it runs smoothly, but when I installed linux fedora core 4 it run real slow.

Later on I installed mandrake 10, and it still run real slow. My vendor said that newer mother board does not support linux, because linux asked for an open source driver. Can anyone help me with this problem?
Thanks in advance

That's funny, He told you the MB did not support Linux or HE did not support it... Hard to say why your system seems to be running slow but I dout that it is because some Tech Support Agent told you it wont work...

More details please...

Apparently the MB does not support linux at all. I asked the support from ASUS, but they said that they are not going to support linux anymore since linux asked for open source driver, therefore the other MB competitor will be able to see ASUS's secret. Other MB, like MSI and ABIT, also starts to stop supporting linux.
