i have a Toshiba Satellite A355-S6925 laptop... i removed Windows and installed Ubuntu 64bits on it. It works great. the problem is when i try to run some graphical programs it gives me weird graphics.. i looked into it and it seems that my graphic card wasn't installed correctly.. please help. here's my "lspci -v"
PS: i'm kinda a newbie in the whole linux drivers thing.. i googled and all i could find was windows drivers...
Code:
linkage@dominate:~$ sudo lspci -v

Actually it's because it used to work before when i had windows installed and now it doesnt.. i did a google search before i post here, some guy had the same problem and they advised him it's because his graphics card's drivers weren't installed. So i'm not 100% positive it's the graphics...
Programs like SecondLife (www.secondlife.com) when i had windows, i used to boot ubuntu 9.10 (and backtrack4 pre-final) from a live DVD and the program used to work normaly on it.. now SecondLife doesn't even with the same live DVD (the login screen opens normaly now, logs in, and then it's all weird shapes in the program viewer instead of the normal graphics now. i can still type messages but i have to "select all" or ctrl+a to be able to read the messages)
My ubuntu version is "Ubuntu 9.10 - the Karmic Koala"
Kernel version: (like i said, i'm not that experienced.. in basic i use linux for programming purposes and OS studies for my university. i think this is what you mean: )
Code:
linkage@dominate:~$ uname -mrs
Linux 2.6.31-20-generic x86_64
Looks like you already have the right driver loaded (it's pretty auto nowadays for Intel chips at least), and you have 3d rendering support. Is your system up to date? Try a 10.04 (beta) Live CD? Can you post screenshots of things that look wrong?
What kernel options are you booting with? Try booting with pci=use_crs.
