Problem with External Firewire HDD
hello ,
i have bought recently an Vipower enclosour and an toshiba 2.5'' hard disk. This combination seems to work fine under Windows as a fat32 partition. When i try to mount it under my Suse 9.3 64 bit i get the following error : "mount /dev/sdb1 mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1, missing codepage or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so " at the fstab i have : "/dev/sdb1 /home/nic/vipower vfat noauto,users,gid=users,umask=0002,utf8=true 0 0" when i type: dmesg | tail i get : elab11:/home/nic # dmesg | tail cdrom: open failed. cdrom: open failed. cdrom: open failed. cdrom: open failed. cdrom: open failed. md: Autodetecting RAID arrays. md: autorun ... md: ... autorun DONE. FAT: invalid media value (0x40) VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sdb1 Also if i use the cfdisk or fdisk to format the drive it crashes and do nothing.Even if i press ctrl-C nothing happens. I used Yast2 and PArtitioner to create a new partition i get the error: "Operation not permitted at /dev/sdb .. " Has anybody a clue? |
