Unhappy Problem with Broadcom 4503, 4502, 4500 Bluetooth chipsets in Rocketfish USB adapter

I just got a Rocketfish USB adapter that fails to work with Ubuntu 9.04 or Slackware 12.2 at all. It was recognized, but unconfigurable on openSuSE 12.2. I have bluez packages installed. When I run lsusb, I get broadcom chipsets 4503, 4502, and 4500. I don't know anything about this, being new to bluetooth altogether. Can anyone help?

It appears the kernel or bluetooth libraries in Fedora 11 solve the problem.
