Problem With ATI 9600 Pro on SUSE 10.0

I have been having a hell of a time with this card and I am falling back on the experts for help. Here's what I have:

Stock Kernel SUSE 10.0 (no compiling yet) Fresh install!
ATI AIW 9600.

I've followed these directions, which seem outstanding-
linux.wordpress. com/2005/10/11/suse-100-ati-drivers-installation

Here's the result:

When running:
# sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx -b /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/sax2-profile

I receive the following error:

SAX: initializing Please wait…
SAX: Wrong module syntax…
SAX: Syntax: -m CardNr=CardModule[,…]
mediacenter:/ #

I’m using 8.19.x and I’ve learned the odd 2nd digit = beta. Is this correct? Should I go back to 8.18.x?

What am I missing with this -m issue?

I try uninstalling and it says it’s not installed
I try reinstalling and it says it’s already installed.

WTF?! Please help me..

Well here I am again. And I have klooged together a find by using various instructions.

The final fix:

Use fglrxconfig instead of sax2 to complete the install and modification of xorg.config.

Now to figure out the recommended TVOUT settings. Then on to install LIRC and VFD for my Silverstone 16m. That oughta be fun.
