Problem with added Ram

Two days ago I installed OpenSUSE 10.2 on computer with 512 MB of ram. When I added another 512 MB of ram, the computer freezed. Memtest doesn't announce any mistake. If I remove 512MB ram the computer work normally.

Does someone know the solution?

If it's a newer motherboard w/ DDR or DDR2, ensure memory is set to 2T Command Rate in the BIOS. Often times a 1T command rate is too fast when using multiple sticks of RAM.

Could also be incompatible RAM. Some brands will refuse to run nicely with other ones, if at all.

Slots?

Might try the ram in different slots. not using the ddr set slots sometimes helps. also might need to enter the bios and save the new memory settings. if those don't work it may be just incompatible ram chips.
