Problem with a Maxtor 120GB External Hard Drive

I would like to know what it should be formated to ext2,ext3, or the other format.

If you have any files in /home (assuming you created a separate partition for /home) which you want to keep, you can choose to keep the /home partition and just delete all other partitions (e.g. / /var etc)

This will probably help me out a bit since i found it on a linux forum and could be used on any linux distro.

Also i want to know if i can make it as drive that Suse goes to when the primary Partition is used up.

Also i have found the program QT parted on the Bitdefender Live Cd

which filesystem is the best is a matter of personal choice most the time. i have my external hd as ext3 but slackware on reiser. i cant tell the difference between the two. if you want to share files with windows then you might consider fat32 so you can swap files between the operation systems. one warning on ext2......it does not journal so on a unclean shutdown you might lose data.
