Problem Installing Suse 10/RHEL 4 on IBM Netvista

Hi guys I recently acquired an IBM NetVista desktop (1.7GHz P4 with 512MB of RAM). When I install certain newer distros such Suse Enterprise Linux 10 and RedHat Enterprise Linux 4, the CD boots and allows me to start the install but the installer does not load and it tells me that it can't find an OS version on the CD (regardless if it is SuSe or RedHat).

At first I thought it was a problem with the CD drive not being able to read the CDs, but then I had no issues installing Windows 2003, Solaris 10, FreeBSD and RHEL version 3. I have downloaded updated ISOs (RHEL4 R4) and same result.

Has anyone any idea as to what the possible cause might be? Is it possible that this box is NOT supported by the latest Suse/RedHat distros?

Other people find a solution disabling DMA at the boot prompt:

linux ide=nodma

Fantastic it works

Thank you for that, I re-installed RHEL4 using this option and the install ran like a charm. Thanks again..
