tryign to install fedora 4 on 2 machines running p2 400 and p2 450.
both machines utilize 440 chipset. after the formatting part of the setup is done the insall image is being copied to the hard drive and at the end of the process i'm gettin an error transferring the image to the hard drive due to probably running out of space. what would be the cause?
How much space did you allocate on the drive for the installation and what type of installation did you select (e.g., desktop, server, everything, minimal, etc.)?
Sometimes, the out-of-space error goes away if you just restart the installation, provided you do actually have enough space on the drive.
i have a 30 gb hdd and most of it is in one partition minus space for the swap and boot
selected custom install with total size being around 1.7 gb. so i dont think the out of space message is correct. tried installing on 2 different machines with the same error.
Did you use the “partition automatically” option during the installation? If yes, then try manually partitioning in advance or use the “partition manually” option during the installation.
Also, are you installing FC4 into space previously used by another distro or from a failed installation? If yes, then be sure to specify that the partitions be reformatted during the Disk Druid “partition manually” session.
If you cannot resolve the out-of-space error, then it would be a good idea to delete all partitions from the disk in advance and then try the installation again.
tried rhel 4 and everything went smoothly.
what could be wrong with fedora?
i dloaded fedora4 first day itcame out. do you think that my image is outdated?
