Angry Problem installing FC 2/RHL 9

i have one 915 GAV intel mother board. with dual memory (512 MB * 2). Fedora core 2 is not getting installed but with single channel memory it is installing easily. RHL 9 is not finding device / driver to get the operating system installed(! ! !). Fedora is not detecting sound card. Also during booting the following messeges are appearing
1.ACPI : S3 and PAE do no like each other for now, S3 disabled.
2.unsupported : intel chipset (device id : 2580)
My question is
1.What the above errors means? Will the SMP ot Hyperthreading work properly in my machine ?
2.Should i go for single channel memory instead of dual channel memory ?
3.Will i get desired performance by installing FC2 with single channel memory and then inserting the second RAM ?
please help

hi there

i think u can install with single channle and then go to double channel
also u can see the kernel configration later where u need to check that wheather high mem support is turned on/off

alkso why do u need SMP?? that is required for dual processors
if u have u need to install kernel-smp package also

regards

Have you updated the bios?

I too have had this issue and found that by simply upgrading the bios to the latest version (build 332), the system performed above and beyond expectations in both single and dual channel configurations.

While installing with a single channel configuration works, the system still won't be performing at its best.

Also, once you've gone back to dual channel configuration after installation, you'll probably find that the system will still come to a grinding halt during the boot process of linux.

For a Genuine Intel mainboard, download the latest bios here:
http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/av/av_bios.htm

For other brands, go visit their support page on their websites.
