Printing under Linux. Cups, Apsfilter, lpr ?
Hello
I`m using Slackware 10 disto and have an old HP deskjet 3816 hanging on my paraport.
I don`t know much about printing under linux. There is some much spooler software and expressions I never heard bevor. It`s a bit confusing.
Which software will do the job for my 3816 deskjet?
I want to print HTML sites and pictures, also text from my word processor.
Greetings Sonic Traveler

For driver, yes, it's best to check Linuxprinting.org
As for the printer filter software, I highly recommend kprinter:

For most problems in Linux, the solution can be very simple (i.e. forgetting to connect the printer to the computer or forgetting to power up the printer). Here are some tutorials that I found useful when configuring printing in Linux (Slackware). I was able to configure my laser printer with CUPs as a shared printer via Samba so that computers on my LAN could print. Also I was able to configure older version of Linux (Slackware) with APSFILTER to share printer over network via Samba and all computers on my LAN could print

Please don't drag up old threads like this, just to advertise (presumably) your site. I notice you've done this several times. Just put a link in your profile and/or signature.
