printing problems in Mandriva 64 2010

I can't get Mandriva 2010 64-bit edition to print.
I had on old clunky printer Canon S520 and I figured it must have been 'too old' for this system. I bought a new printer HP Deskjet 1000-J110. The system installed it automatically and.. I never printed one page. When I open a printing queue I see a printing job being processed but it never prints.
I re-installed CUPS - no luck.
Any ideas?
