I hooked up the printer to my box and turned on and off tried the kde printing manager and I still get nothin when I try to print a test page the driver was said to be there but nothing works. and what is a URI?

Thanks

What printer driver are you using(its in the box at the bottom-right hand corner of the screen at print:/manager)? Try going into a web browser and typing http://locahost:631 and see if you get anything. And a URL for a laserjet5 would be something like parallel:/dev/lp0
