printer setup

Hello,

I have a Apollo P 1200 series printer that I want to setup. I just don't know how to do that. When I give the command "lpq" the following message is displayed

" Printer: lp@linux - ERROR: spool queue for 'lp' does not exist on server linux.local
non-existent printer or you need to run 'checkpc -f' "

what does this mean ?

I tried setting up the printer with the setup program in "/usr/lib/apsfilter/" but that was'nt verry helpfull either.

And there is one more thing, during I get the following waring messages:

" Warning - stp_pcl_1200: sf (suppress form feeds) is ignored. Use 'ff_separator'
if you want FF between job files
Warning - stp_pcl_1200-mono: sf (suppress form feeds) is ignored. Use 'ff_separa
tor' if you want FF between job files
Warning - stp_pcl_1200-raw: sf (suppress form feeds) is ignored. Use 'ff_separat
or' if you want FF between job filesWarning - stp_pcl_1200: sf (suppress form feeds) is ignored. Use 'ff_separator'
if you want FF between job files "

I think these messages have something to do with it.

I know It is'nt a hardware problem because of two resons. I can print files by directly piping them to the /dev/lp0 device. And my printer has worked. I configured my printer with yast2 once and my printer worked as it should. It's a long story why my printer does not work any more so I won't bother telling you now.
Can any one help me ?

I had pretty good luck with CUPS.

You might give it a try.
