Ok got a Kyocera printer hosted off a Win2k server I want to print to. Tried already to hit the UNC for the window server but don't see the printer hosted (only the sysvol share). I have been given the IP of the printer and tried adding it both as an SMB, LPD, or Jetdirect queue. For driver I've tried text only, and PCL 5, 6. Nothing seems to work. Snort shows it trying to connect but the printer doesn't print (however it appears successful from my fedora desktop). Windows desktops can print to this printer fine.

Configure your Linux machine to print directly to the printer using lpr/lpd. You MUST set the queue name for the printer to 'lp' (without the quotes)

If you submit a job via lpr but don't send it to the 'lp' queue odds are the printer will do nothing... Different printer manufacturers use different queue names for their LPR Network print servers, jobs must be submitted to the appropriate queues.

As for print driver, look for a .ppd file for that printer. It's part of the Postscript printer driver.

Ok heres mor einfo on this. Even after testing before and deleting the printer from the printing program I show a CUPS printer of that name when I got to print in a program. Not sure what thats about.

Not only is the IP of the printer pingable but I can pull up the web page for the printer on that IP. Hmmm

Did you edit this error message to mask the Printer IP ? Or is your queue actually pointing at the name 'printer IP' as the printer address ? if you are pointing at 'printer IP' does that resolve to the IP address of the printer ?

Yeah I changed the IPs. There was an IP there but I put in <printer IP>
