Exclamation printer, modem, and mouse wheel questions

hi. i've recently managed to get my windows xp machine dual-booting with red had 8.0 but i'm encountering some hardware problems which keep me from using linux more often.

my first problem concerns getting my printer to work with linux. i have an Epson C41SX printer which works fine with windows. I guess linux does manage to detect the printer at startup because a text-based dialog box (with the correct model) asks me if i want to install the printer during start-up. after continuing with my startup once i get into KDE and try to add a printer queue the setup manages to install without any error message (i must mention though that i couldn't find the exact printer driver from the list of choices given). however, when i try to print a test page it always comes up with an error message. has anybody out there experienced any success getting the same model printer to work with RH 8.0?

My second problem concerns setting an external serial modem to connect to the internet. it manages to dial-up to my ISP and i can hear the shrill sound of the modem connecting but after that the connection just dies without any prompting or error message. should i have configured something else aside from the Network Devices setup?

My last question concerns my mouse wheel's functionality. i've read quite a few posts regarding this but i can't seem to get it to work. i've already tried changing the settings at my /etc/X11/XF86Config file specifically at the section:

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

but i still can't get the wheel to work.

any help/suggestions regarding the problems above will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Well im not totally sure about the rest of your problems, but as for the mousewheel, you tried making sure you have the best driver on? If you have a MS Intellimouse for example, make sure you choose device 'IMPS/2'. Also the /dev/mouse is the driver that I use. Im not sure about what devices and drivers other mice take, but just google mousename + linux...youll prolly get it there.
