[SOLVED] Printer installation problem on fedora 17

Hi all,
I installed F17 on my Laptop Dell 630. The system is running fine. However, when i connected printer HP LaserjetP1007 for the first time it asked for some installations related to printer which I followed without fail. Now when I give a print command it gives a message ¨Printing ....¨ and then it shows ¨Print Completed¨, but nothing actually gets printed. When I go to Applications/Printing it shows the Printer icon in a pop up and at the bottom it shows ¨Connected to Localhost¨

I do´nt know what is the actual problem. Please suggest a solution.

Hello,

Most Linux distros use CUPS nowadays for printing. Can you check if your printer is listed in CUPS by connecting your browser to http://localhost:631 and click on the Printers tab? If it's not listed there, then try installing it from withing CUPS (Administration).

It is listed in CUPS and under the status it also shows: Idle - "Printer is now connected."

Hello,

Since it's a HP printer, are you using the HPLIP drivers? Check with the following:

Code:

rpm -qa | grep hplip

If that doesn't show up anything try installing them with yum. If you have the HPLIP packages installed, see if this site helps you out any further with basic troubleshooting.

I followed the instructions given on following link and reinstalled it. Actually a plugin was needed. It is now working.
