Thanks for this little bit of information. The Dell 720 certainly looks like the Lexmark Z615. Lexmark does have alot of info about drivers for Linux on its site. I've downloaded the driver for Z615, but not entirely sure how it's supposed to work, it's not a handy ppd file.
What does the readme say or install say?
With lexmark drivers there most times is a sh.whatever file
su
password
cd whatever
./sh.whatever
something like that
The readme is not very enlightening at all, and the shell script that's bundled up in the download runs happily and quickly, but that results in nothing. I'll have another look at the script to see if it uses incorrect pathways. I can't work out quite what the script is doing, and if I need to activate anything after running it. Do you have a copy?
I had a lexmark and had to put it to the curb and get a HP.Epsons work with linux also.Sorry I can't be of much help but I have got the drivers installed before and it does take alot of reading and searching and then it didn't work very good so I gave up.
I got my Dell Photo Printer 720 to work under Linux. The printing service that I use under Linux is CUPS. It works. Go here to find all the info that you need to get the printer to work under any Linux distro with CUPS as the printing system. (Note: CUPS is the default printing system supported by all Unix operating systems(proprietary and free)).
