Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Primary vs Logical

i have a question, could i make an xp primary partition and a linux primary partion, and then i have an extended partition, with the left over and make logical fat 32 partion. Will i be able to read/write the fat32 parition on both os.

i don't want a lot of primary partion, because i only have one hard drive and you can only have 4 primary, and i want to try to keep the primary partion to a min.

Yes. You also should create a swap partition. It can be either primary or logical.
