Powering down SATA hard drives

Got rid of windows and only run debiann now and its all going fine except i want to be able to power down my sata hard drives after say 1 hour or so.

I have 2 sata drives and 2 IDE ones, the IDE ones i can get to power down fine with hdparm, but that does not work with SATA drives beacause they get detected as SCSI drives for some reason (sda, sdb)

Yeh so anyone got some ideas?
