PowerEdge 2200 Sony DDS3 Tape Drive in Slack 10

Tried searching for an answer to this, but couldn't find anything.

I have a PowerEdge 2200 with a PERC 2/DC controlling 2 4gb HDs, and this Sony SDT-9000 DDS-3 tape drive running on the internal Adaptec 7880 SCSI controller. I was able to load Slack 10 by booting to to the raid.s module on the cd, and loading the adaptec.s module by floppy before the actual install. The server does not have the adaptec.s module loaded at boot, so I have to load an aic7xxx after every boot to at least see the SCSI cdrom and the tape drive. Here is what I get after the loading of the module using insmod:

(scsi1) <Adaptec AIC-7880 Ultra SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 0/15/0
(scsi1) Wide Channel, SCSI ID=7, 16/225 SCBs
(scsi1) Downloading sequencer code... 436 instructions downloaded
scsi1 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 5.2.4/5.2.0
<Adaptec AIC-7880 Ultra SCSI host adapter>
Vendor: NEC Model: CD-ROM DRIVE:462 Rev: 1.14
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI Revision: 02
Vendor: SONY Model: SDT-9000 Rev: 125F
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI Revision: 02
Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi1, channel 0, id 5, lun 0
(scsi1:0:5:0) Synchronous at 10.0 Mbyte/sec, offset 15
sr0: scsi-1 drive
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.12

I tried using this as /dev/st0 and /dev/tape with no luck.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
