powerdown buggers hardware; does reboot?

Switching the computer on (or off?) (or both?) is the main thing that damages the hardware and leads to its eventual failure. A compromise is to switch off once a day.

Does rebooting damage the hardware in the same way; had always assumed not?

Thanks any help.
