power down isn't working

Compaq laptop will not turn off.

The last three lines are:
Shut down hda.
Power down.
acpi_power_off_called.

acpi is installed as is apm.

Isn't 'Power down' suppose to be last.
Any ideas on where to start looking.

You need to enable acpi on the Mandrake Control Center (MCC) even if it is install.

Enter MCC by typing "mcc" on the console or going to KMenu >> System >> Configuration >> Configure your Computer

Select Initialization (not sure what the name in english is) on the left part of the MCC.

And then Configure witch system will boot.

Now check the box "Enable ACPI" and click next, next, next until you reinstall LILO.

Restart and try to power down.

Thank you for replying.
Acpi is checked to start in MCC, Boot up..
It is also listed to start at boot in System Services.
System Services shows it as running now.

Any other ideas.
